"I see
many new authors sacrifice finding the "right"
publisher for finding the "fast" publisher or the
"do-it-yourself" publisher, or holding out for that
acceptance letter from a "big-name" publisher with the
New York Times endorsements.
Somewhere in
the shuffle of submissions and rejection letters, contracts and
royalty negotiations, I think we all lose sight of what this
industry is based on? Someone has a story to tell, and someone
wants to read that story. As an editor for American Book
Publishing, I have found a place in building that important
bridge between writers and readers.
Finally, an
author's voice is what matters again. I work with a staff of
extremely professional people who are indelibly dedicated to
capturing important stories, polishing and perfecting them, and
connecting them with the readers who are waiting to read them.
Not all authors are rich people. Not all books are bestsellers.
But I
believe every story will matter to someone, and I believe that
American Book Publishing is committed to making that connection.
I see editors dedicated to lifting manuscripts to their highest
potential. I see designers helping authors to visualize that
perfect cover image. I see marketers teaching authors to target
their publicity efforts, getting their books to precisely the
people who want or need to read them. I see a publisher finding
ways to connect authors with their audiences. And being a part
of this magical process with American Book Publishing has been
unfailingly rewarding for me. Find a publisher who sees the
story in a story and the storyteller in an author, and you will
find a publishing house whose books and writers are believed in.
It does not matter if "everyone" has read a book.
It
matters that the book finds its way to the readers for whom it
was written. I am proud to affiliate with a publisher that
places this fundamental ideal at heart and works tirelessly to
make it happen for every author who is welcomed to the
fold." —Jenny MacKay, Editor

"It is due to American Book Publishing 's creative thinking and innovative use of technology that I don't have to live in London, New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles to work in the publishing industry. "American Book Publishing effectively uses new technology to excel against the high competition in the book publishing industry today. American Book Publishing does not short cut quality, while beating slow industry averages. For example, their quality management of content editing, copy editing and design services provides completion in an average of 9 months, while the industry average is 18 months. I'm proud to have worked with American Book Publishing since it's beginning. Its a well organized and managed company that is constantly looking for new and better ways to improve their services".—Susie Young, Copyright Manager |

"I've always loved working with companies that go against the grain. I could see from the start we would make a good fit. American Book Publishing’s values, philosophy, and practices continue to earn my respect. People need to realize that at American Book Publishing, each book is a team effort, and that each team member has a stake in the book's success. As such, this motivation goes into producing a quality product.
We're seeing different types of writing. Fast, cutting-edge prose. Writers are finding new ways to make their voices heard through communities and through unique portals on the Web. And now they're demanding more options to get their words into print. ABP is the strongest alternative for authors to get published. It retains the respect that a full-service publisher provides while utilizing innovative ways to deliver and disseminate the works of new artists.
I have amazing, original works crossing my desk on a daily basis. It is fun to choose manuscripts that will eventually have an impact on our society. I am seeing literature and content that I am truly proud to have American Book Publishing associated with. I commend American Book Publishing's philosophy and mandate to help the new author, as well as the veteran author, to publish the very best written word available.
I am proud to work with such a staff of professional editors. Their commitment and perseverance are truly inspirational to me. I am motivated on a daily basis to help my editors achieve greatness with their manuscripts—to help them help our authors to create great works of fiction and non-fiction. Our editors are so intent on helping the authors. They speak with them, often on a daily basis, and the synergy and energy that results knocks me off my feet some days. I feel as though I have created a large happy family, and that we all get to enjoy the thing that we love—the written word. Life could not be better!" —Olen Letourneau, Executive at Travel Unbound E-books |

"Over the past five years I've edited and written books for five academic publishers: Prentice Hall, Springhouse, Lippincott, Addison-Wesley, and Blanchard Loeb. It's a jungle out there, and payment is a major issue with three of these companies. The worst is Prentice Hall. I have horror stories about trying to get paid by these giant companies and being shuttled from one office to the next. I had to threaten legal action against Blanchard Loeb, and then they wouldn't hire me again. Another problem I experienced is buyouts. For example, over an 18 month period Prentice Hall took over Addison Wesley, Lippincott acquired Springhouse and Mosby, and a group of deposed editors from Mosby formed Blanchard and Loeb. Whenever a buyout occurs, the senior editors I work with are fired and I have to develop new contacts. Sometimes the new parent company won't hire contract editors or writers, so I completely lose out. With American Book Publishing, I like the fact that I can speak directly to the Director of Operations any time I have a problem. No red tape, no bureaucracy, no buyouts.” —Sammie Justesen, Editor Prentice Hall |

I was very impressed with American Book Publishing? Very
professional and prompt in responding. The publication process
is streamlined and easy to follow. The freedom of working
directly with the author and having such close communication for
rounds of edits. The author's openness to the edits. There
wasn't much resistance to suggestions for changes. It's a
science fiction story about good and evil and the blurred lines
within that was interesting. I think young adults (boys) will

"Most books lose money for their publishers, which often proves fatal for small presses. Author participation in promotion is the single largest determining factor behind a book's success or failure. Therefore, at a typical small press where most authors do not participate in marketing, those few who do suffer the worst setbacks should the publisher fold. Large presses do not promote small authors since, as unknowns, they cannot possibly recoup the costs of a large publicity campaign. Small presses simply lack the resources to do author promotion. This leaves the author responsible for promoting their own work. Subsidy presses largely eliminate the risk of going under by charging authors to produce their books. The publishing industry frowns on this practice because of a perceived lack of quality- the thinking being that subsidy presses care more about their bottom line than producing good books. Spend money on marketing and risk having the publisher fold, or spend money on the book and have none left over for marketing. What's an author to do?
American Book Publishing’s elegant solution solves both problems by providing traditional publishing services to carefully selected manuscripts without taking heavy financial risks. Asking first-time authors a modest deposit balances everyone's interests a wise course in today's competitive publishing environment. Subjecting every accepted manuscript to a strict content editing process and separate copyediting services ensures high-quality titles. Further, American Book Publishing is one of the few publishers who provides real honest-to-goodness promotional help to their authors. All authors whose first books achieve a modest sales goal get back their entire deposit and subsequent titles cost nothing. Everyone wins! There are no guarantees and not every author will achieve bestseller status.
